Confederate Frock Coat

Today, the Confederate frock coat remains a popular item for historical reenactments and collectors of Civil War memorabilia. The coat also featured flaps at the back that allowed for ease of movement while riding a horse. It is a long, single-breasted coat with a standing collar and brass buttons. While the coat was not particularly protective, it was a symbol of rank and status among Confederate soldiers. The Civil War Confederate frock coat typically featured a single breasted button front, with two or three buttons on each sleeve. It featured a high collar, brass buttons, and often had epaulettes on the shoulders.
